Kaden's Story

This is my story and I'm sticking to it!

This is me still inside my mommy's tummy. This picture is taken on August 21, 2007. My mommy has been calling me Bob the Builder since I am making my own house in her tummy. I am about 6 months old and not ready to come out to play yet. This is when mommy found out that she was having a boy! Yippie!

Almost Ready...

This picture was taken on December 16, 2007. Mommy started having contractions this morning. She went into the hospital at 5pm. The nurse said that I wasn't going to have any hair.

Here I am! Born a fighter...

I was born December 17, 2007 at 3:56pm, finally. Mommy pushed for a solid two hours, and it wasn't easy being on the inside either. The doctor kept giving mommy medicine to have more contractions, this made it hard for me to get oxygen. Everytime she had a contraction I did not get to breathe. When I came out, they saw that I was greyish-blue, not breathing, and not in good shape. They decided that they needed to life-flight me around 8pm that night downtown to get me better care. (why it took so long God only knows.) Once I made it downtown, my daddy was already there waiting. They rushed me into NICU (nursery ICU) level three. I stayed here for 2 weeks. I don't remember anything from my first week I was on a cooling blanket and lots of medication. I had my first seizure for 90 seconds on my very first day, my daddy stayed with me. Tough world. I slowly began to breathe on my own, pee pee on my own, and started to wake up, with lots of helpful and loving nurses constantly by mommy and daddy's and my side. These were my angels. At first my visitors could not touch me (because it was too stimulating for me, the doctors were worried), or hold me, just mommy and daddy (they shared my germs). On the 6th day of my life I finally got to feel my mother's touch. What a wonderful feeling! I slowly got better and was moved to NICU level two. They prepared me by giving me a bath and a big boy crib! I hated my bath, just like every other boy!

My first bath!

They are making me so handsome to move into NICU level 2. Mommy thinks that I was not on many medicines. They are trying to let me adjust to being in the real world.

Bath OVER!!!!

I was very mad at my Mommy for that Bath!  My Mommy had to hold me right after because I was just so upset!!  For some reason though she thought it was the cutest thing!  Sheesh was I  glad when that was over. Little did I know there was more where that came from!

Grammy and Me

This is me and Grammy in level two.  Level two means closer to gettting outta here!  YES!  HOME here I come.  Although I do love the nurses it is time for some alone time with my family.  Since I was 2 weeks I have been trying to learn how to take my bottle.  I was set a little behind because of my head ouchies.  It is hard but I am getting there.  I hear the nurses say once I can eat all by myself ( without this yucky nose tube) then I am home free! I have made it really far from level 3.

Getting Closer.....

Here is me and some of my entourage/fans :o).   Still waiting for home......

First Day HOME!!!!!!!!!!

I got to go home on 1/25/08.  I had a surgery ( for my g button) so I could eat and go home sooner.  It was not what I wanted to do ( i'd rather eat all by myself) but hey Im trying that is for sure.  No matter what i know GOD is looking after me and my family. I got to meet my cousin Micah he is 2 weeks and a day younger than me.  I also was a really good boy and slept the whole way home.  Little did Mommy know I would be up for the next 2 nights from 2 am to 10 am.  It is hard for me to calm myself down because of my injury. I am still taking phenobarbital which makes me really sleep, but it helps prevent seizures.  So far I am doing pretty good other than being off schedule and colic...BOY gas stinks
